Reuse and Repurpose

Wow, it's almost the New Year 2020.  Christmas was extremely stressful so I'm looking forward to a brighter and better new year!!  Remember the beautiful origami kimono that Brenda made here?  It's been on my desk for the whole year and now it's time to purpose this gorgeous calender.

When my brother comes to town he asks if I have any Ningyogami cards to give him.  Knowing this, I carefully repurposed Brenda's paper kimonos and made some cards to send him.  Here are some of the 12 cards on its way to Vegas....

(Sorry, not the best pictures)
Paper:  DCWV The Far East
Charms:  Unknown from the LSS
Punch:  All Night Media "Good Luck"

January is next week and it's all about New Years Resolutions.  As some of you may know, I received  many of my mom's crafting treasures--most of them never used and still in the package.  I resolve to use each one of those "collectibles" (for stamps a minimum of 3 times) or send them to others who I know would appreciate and use them....  that's my crafty goal for 2020.  What's yours?

Hi, all!  As promised, it's time for a mini album!  This one measures approximately 6 1/4 x 7 1/2, with an almost 2 1/2 inch spine, designed to hold 5x7 and 4x6 photos, with plenty of room to to hold your dimensional embellishments, if so desired. Unfortunately, I only have access to a limited amount of kits for class so please email me quickly if you are interested in joining us.

When:  Saturday, September 28, 2019
Time:    1:30 p.m.
Place:   Jade's place in Kailua (email me for address)
Cost:   $25.00

Please bring the following items to class:  Basic tool kit (just in case), scissors, paper trimmer with a sharp blade, bone folder and scoring device, strong adhesive (both liquid and tape), ruler, pencil or pen.

I have given you the option of choosing your own paper for the cover of the album and I have about 4 different quotes for the title (which you will choose at class).  We will be using Stampin Up's Best Route Designer paper which happens to be on sale while supplies last.  Link below.

This class involves LOTS of paper cutting.  However, if you want me cut the pattern paper for you (to save you time), email me which paper design you wish for outside AND inside of the cover.  Link to the Stampin Up website is HERE.

Note, you may not be able to completely finish the album, but you should have enough time to finish the core of the album.  Head's up:  after Saturday's class, we have one more class before I'm on "vacation".

Thank you and hope to see you there!!

I'm sorry that our Japan trip posts will have to be continued later.  I've been busy with life --- work, family and class (you know how it goes :o).

Here's the next project for our Saturday class.  It is a little Paper Wallet gift set which holds 4 cards and envelopes.  The project can easily be remade to hold more cards or pictures/  I have included a littled pocket to hold stamps (or a gift card).

The class wll be concentrated on creating the wallet.  With the left over scraps, there will be supplies to create at least 4 cards which can easily be created at home.  Below are some samples,.

Japan - Day 2

Day 2 started with a Buffet Breakfast at Hapuna which had a Hawaiian Decor Flair.  Sis, being a foodie tried all the different types of foods offered.
Including the matcha, orange juice and coffee.
Next stop -- a return to Decks.  The day before we caught the city transportation (The bus) to Decks but most of the stores were closed by the time we got there.  So today, we took a cab:
This is also the place where we took our first selfie!  Little did we know that it would take lots and lots of tries before we got it right...
Lower deck upper deck:
We went to a Tokyo Trick Art Museum in which we had totally lots of fun!  Check these pictures out:

The Trick Art Museum contains one dimensional paintings that have the look of 3D.  We took probably 100 pictures in the museum and I'll just have to show a few of the ones we laughed about . . .
We took so many pictures at this stage because we kept cracking up with laughter....
Here is what is really happening - a mirror.

Unfortunately, I can not show you all the fun pictures because Blogger would probably kick me out, but here is our favorite one:
It took us at least 20 shots before we kinda got it right.  Here is what the picture really looks like in REAL LIFE:
We would definitely return to the Museum with our family one day.
Lunch was at a little Italian restaurant:
Chicken ragout and bambooshoot pepperonicino (1.480Y)
And the special Mozzarella Grana Padano, pepperoni, Asiago, Tomato sauce, Tareggio, Basil Pizza (1.580Y )
Of course we hit the Daiso store and saw Fran's chocolates,
All in all, a definitely long day and wonderful time at Decks:

Japan - Day 1

Well - I guess it is finally time to post a sisters trip to Japan. It was my first time to Japan and my sister's 3rd.  We had a BLAST, plenty sister bonding time filled with lots of laughter and togetherness.

Day 1:
After 4 months of anticipation, the day was finally here.  No husbands, no kids, just us two.  After a 9 hour flight and we finally arrived at Haneda Airport in Narita at 1:30am HST.  While in the airport, Sis discovered she left her itinerary and all her yen on the airplane!  After a 20 minute wait, they found it and returned everything to her.  We thanked them with Hawaiian Host Macademia Nut Chocolates and Pineapple gummies. We laughed about it after the fact because this is typically the type of thing that NEVER happens to her but ALWAYS happens to ME!

Why I love Japan -- for their honesty.

From there we take a taxi to our hotel - Prince Shinogawa Hotel and went to bed after planning what we would do the next day.

The Fascinating Fascinator

As I was cleaning out this blog, found some posts that never got posted so starting with this one.  I think it was actually close to a year ago . . .

Last month (**actually in April 2018**) I went to a crafting day at the Library hosted by my favorite Librarian. We created Fascinators using a treasures of left over pieces and discards.
I absolutely LOVE this one... gold and black.
The Librarian in her gorgeous purple one (of course) and check out this beautiful red one.

I know there is a group picture of all of us with our newly created beautiful Fascinators but I'm waiting for someone to send me a copy.  We had lots and lots of fun and each one looked so different.

Oh, almost forgot.  Here is a picture of mine.
