Fun and bright cards!

In a card making mood and I wanted something bright and cheery for an otherwise gray bleary day.  These are made from a page kit called Hoopla from WR Memory Keepers White Out Collection (available at Hobby Lobby and other fine stores).  Added some bling and ribbons.
I'm offering two raffles in connection with the donations I'm raising for the MS150.  I invite you to check out my personal page at MS for more info.   I'd really love your support.   Also, go check out my personal blog http://my-crazy-never-still-life.blogspot.com/ for more samples of cards from this paper (and the link to the MS page).   I'm trying to post different cards and layouts on that blog from this blog.   Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Birthday Tea Holder

I just created a birthday card tea holder for a BFF on the Big Island. Check out the stitches stamp near the border and the Happy Birthday stamp! More on that later......

This tea holder holds 2 of my favorite tea flavors: Lupicia's Malama and Lanikai. BFF, Beve, introduced me to High Tea maybe 10 years ago. The idea behind this gift is because we won't be together to celebrate our birthday and tea, one tea bag is to be celebrated on her birthday and the other on mine. The two quotes state:

A little cup of Friendship
With a bag of tea

When you relax and drink this
Remember it brings love from me.

Brew on January 27, 2010

I wish we could sit together
And drink a cup of tea.
But since we can't,
When you have this one,
I hope you'll think of me!

Brew on January 31, 2010

I hope she likes it! It should arrive on her birthday.

PS: Special thanks to DeAnna. I LOVE my new Fiskar border punch. Thank you, girlfriend!!!

Card Sketch Challenge

The challenge for this week at http://sketchesbytamara/blogspot.com/ is a card sketch.
Here is my entry.

I got a great page kit at the Danbury Retreat presented by By Design Scrapbooks (ala “the Pink Store”) http://www.bydesignscrapbookboutique.com/. I used many of the papers from that page kit for this card. The flower is by Bazzill (I think) and a whole bottle was given to me by my PAWS Secret Santa. Button is from my stash. I used cotton string for the button floss. Ribbon by HL.

Go check out http://sketchesbytamara/blogspot.com/ for artwork by the rest of the design team members. Enjoy!

Trick or Treat

I know, I know, Halloween photos in January! I organized my photos over the Christmas break and realized that I must have stopped scrapping in about 1993 or 1994 and then skipped to do current photos (I was bored). So I have a slew of older photos so I wanted to get started. I've also got a personal goal the past year to try to use up some of my stash and I am definitely doing that now. But the stuff is still good, right? Did this for a challenge on my PAWS group.

Enjoy! Karen

3x3 cards - Use That Stash - Part II (Blog Candy time)

Remember those 3 x 3 cards I quickly created a couple of days ago? Well, I took the idea further. I created envelopes to fit the cards, stamped the saying on the envelope and created a 3.5 x 3.5 box to fit the cards! Perfect for a quick gift to someone.

Now for the candy:

I'm giving away the complete set of stamps I used for the 3 x 3 cards along with several sheets of the TLC frames + 2 sample cards. To be eligible for the drawing, post a comment to this post. Names will be randomly picked in two days. Hurry, I want to hear from you!

Class Time: Scrapbook 101

Live on Oahu? Have always wanted to learn how to scrapbook but don't know where to start? Well, my next class will get you off on a good start!

What: Scrapbook 101, $25

Where: A Place in Time, Kailua, Hawaii

When: Thursday, January 14, 2010, 6:30p to 8:30p

We'll also create this quick and easy little album by Little Yellow Bicycle. Call APT to reserve your space today!

Swap card

This is a card that I made for a swap last month in on my PAWS online yahoogroup. I used the DCW Green Stack, CTMH stamps, ink and cardstock, DCWV chipboard tree (which matched my CTMH stamp almost perfectly!) and hemp and cotton string to tie it with.

Karen

Ringing in the new year with layouts!

I was fortunate to be selected to be on a design team this quarter over at http://sketchesbytamara/blogspot.com/. Each month the design team will be doing a LO sketch challenge, a card sketch challenge, a recipe challege and a journaling challenge. All the artwork from the design team will be posted weekly. In January, the first week is the sketch challenge and here is my layout:

I used CTMH "Grace" level 2 paper pack and chocolate CTMH cardstock. The chipboard letters are CTMH, inked with Honey ink. The hinge is Making Memories (I think). The yellow Prima flower is from my Secret Santa (Karen I) and the brown flower is Spare Parts. The antique brad is CTMH. And I used my sewing machine!!

To see my second layout that I did with this sketch, go to my personal blog at http://my-crazy-never-still-life.blogspot.com/. To see the sketch and the artwork by the other design team members, go check out http://sketchesbytamara/blogspot.com/.

3x3 cards - Use that Stash!

This year I have decided to use my stash. I'm spring cleaning this week, getting things ready for a garage sale. Today I'm using the frames by TLC. Leftovers from my day as a TLC Consultant. I know I gave several of these away but some made their way back home . . . in my hands. So here's what I'm going to do with them.

Let's pick up a set of stamps I purchased a couple of years ago, intending to use them for tags. To date, I have used them only a handful of times. After this project, it's time to retire them into someone's stash! I think they are a SU stamp set.

After cutting out the inside frame of the TLC diecut, I cut out the nobbies. Stamp onto a 1" white square, with matching ink. 1st mat is made from the inside square of the TLC diecut. 2nd time with a 1-3/4" white square and matted them again on the TLC outside frame.

3x3 cards out of white scraps was then cut. Check out the inside sentiment of each card using the bottom words on the stamp:

A little watercoloring here and there and now I have 9-3x3 cards using up my stash! Wow, all done in an hour and the kiddies are still asleep ;o)

Have a wonderful day creating!

xoxo

Card share

I made this card for a friend at work who loves butterflies. She has a December birthday close to Christmas so I wanted to make something special for her. Paper is Basic Grey, ribbon is CTMH, chipboard butterfly is from HL.
