I'm a Little Teapot - Iris Folding

I recently received a card from B which looked similar to this; and one day I saw D creating some shirt design ones for her FIL.

So I thought I'd try my hand at Iris Folding and this is my first attempt, a Tea for Two card for my tea partner this month, Colleen. It uses the Triangle pattern.

My second attempt now using the square pattern. Not bad, huh. Its easy to do and uses up your scraps. BTW, does this tea pot look familiar?? Well, I used it before at here, and here. D was right, it has lots of potential!! :o)

Just a little tag . . .

Take a craft tag
Started playing around
Added a little dimension
with punch art;
Add some Magic Mesh, a little bee button. There, all done.

And yes, Sherri, I did sew on this tag!

Recipe Challenge

This week, the Challenge at sketchesbytamara is a Recipe Challenge - to make a card or layout using at least these three items:

- Staples
- Stitching, Real or Faux
- Stamping

Here's my take! The papers were quite old and not identified. Cardstock is CTMH, as is the stamps - corner, faux stitching and calendar. Rub-ons (date) are Making Memories. I used some Jolee jack-o-laterns, glitter chipboard "bat" and metal words (from a decade ago). This should meet any challenge out there for using old supplies!

So what will you make with this challenge? Go check out SketchesByTamara and see what the rest of the design team did.

Leftover chipboard altered to become . . .

Leftover pieces of chipboard from many chipboard classes past. Knew what I wanted to do with them, just didn't find the time. Well, 2 more fell right in front of me today as I was cleaning out my things. Putting everything aside, I decided to jump right in and do that project I've been wanting to do with them for a while!

These pieces were already the perfect size. So I grabbed a piece of scrap paper. Added Modge Podge onto chipboard, adhered to chipboard. Turned piece over, added Modge Podge onto other side. Folded paper over to cover this side.

Cut off all extra pieces of paper.
Rounded corners with the Gator.
Now that the piece was all covered, time to decorate. Pulled out the scrap paper again and created my favorite flower paper piecing design. Because this will be used often (hopefully!), all the pieces had to be fully tacked with my favorite adhesive -- for those who ask, I always use and love Aleene's Tacky Glue & toothpick tool. Finishing touches now: Set an eyelet into a hole on the top to hold the fiber. Added rubons and...
Wa-La! Bookmarkers! That was really very quick. Final step... the packaging . . .
There we go. All done and this gift is ready to give to my favorite librarian whom I will see in a couple of weeks. ;o)
Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

I love stamping

I had fun with the stamping on this card. I had some little this and thats left over from the punch-out page of a paper pack. Add flowers and a button!

Tea with Teddy & Me

I was in charge of my son's preschool Valentine celebration Friday. I had to plan their lunch and activities for the day. One of the planned activities included making a valentine card for their parents. We set up a small photo studio. We had a couple of dresses and shirt outfits for the boys. Dressed them up and took a picture with their favorite teddy. I downloaded the pictures to Walgreens and picked them up an hour later. I made the card frames yesterday and finished them up this morning.

and the inside of his card:

The 2-3 year old children glued a single heart and we wrote the I and the U for I {heart} you. For craft time, they decorated their valentine bags (lunch bags) with more hearts.

For lunch we had a little tea party with children tea sets, petite sandwiches, cut up fruits and cupcakes, brownies & cookies for desert.

What an exhausting day!

One simple tea pot

I received this simple Dreamweaver Brass Stencil from BFF DeAnna. She saw the potential in the stencil and, according to her, it was screaming my name! So, for this next tea swap, here's what I did:
I haven't done this type of flower embellishments for a while. What do you think? I also used RF flourish stamp in Versamark, chalking, and gold beads. It's going to my swap partner, Melanie in MA. Hope she likes it! It will arrive with my favorite teas from Lupicia and another type of tea I got for my birthday called Bird Pick Tea and Herb. Never had that before.

BTW, if you wish to join our little tea bag swap, drop me a line!

Thanks, D! You are the bomb, girlfriend, always thinking of me! xoxo
