Happy Place - A Class

It's been a busy month with my studying for an exam and coming down with a cold bug.  I am almost well!  And, FINALLY, I have created the sample for this Saturday's Class.  I think you will enjoy this little album.  It's called "You Are My Happy Place".  It makes me smile!  I added the punchart we created in April's class.  The album measures 5" x 7" and has a ribbon closure.  Paper Loft Everyday Life is the paper line:

Class will held at A Place in Time, Kailua, on Saturday, May 30 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.  To reserve your space, please either email me or call Bill.  Cost for the class is $23.00.

Please bring the following supplies to class:

Tacky glue (I recommend Aleene's), adhesive of choice, paper trimmer, scissors, bone folder and scoring tool (small size is ok); corner rounder, ruler (I recommend Tim Holt Idea-ology), pen or pencil, Crop-a-dile.  We are making the album only.  I have a couple punchart kits from last class available for purchase.  When reserving your spot, please let Bill know if you wish to purchase a punchart kit (first come, first serve).

Thank you for stopping by!

Happy Mother's Day!!

This post was supposed to have been sent on Mother's Day 2015.
I hope all you mothers had a beautiful day celebrating you!
~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Happy Mother's Day!!  DD took me to dinner last night, just the two of us and we had a really nice time!  Today is all about the mother and MIL.

Flower Pens.  I know it's been around for a long time but I thought I'd share.  Mahalo to Phoebe at Ben Franklin in Kailua who reminded me just how quick and easy this pretty gift is, perfect for my mother-in-law:

Supplies need: Silk flower (I purchased these beautiful Gerber daisies from Ben Franklin for $1.49 each. They look very real!), wire cutter, green florist tape, pens (I used the clear pens like BIC brand),

First cut the plastic stem, making sure not to cut the wire in the middle.  Tear plastic steam off.  Shorten the wire so that you can add it inside the clear plastic tubing of the pen.
Wrap florist tape around the clear pen all the way to the base of the flower.  I personally like some clear pen to show so I only wrapped the top and I also positioned the tape so that the flower pens were at different heights.
All done!!!  Stick the finished pens in a pretty vase, wrap a bow around it, add a tag and they are ready for giving!!

 ~~~~~~~~~ Side note ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Unbeknownst to me, my son presented this beautiful gift to me for Mother's Day!!!
And yes, it is flower pen!! LOL!!
Tea Bag Holder
Fran sent me an adorable tea bag holder last month, so I just had to duplicate it this month.   Here's my version for the red/black tea swap.   Hope Miyuki likes it!
Paper used is CTMH, flower is from Mike's and flower punch is SU.  I found this cool bling fabric at a specialty fabric store.  The bling is attached to a mesh.  I cut the mesh up to make all kinds of things, corners, circles and in this case, strips.
Enjoy!   Karen
Thank a Teacher!
It's Teacher Appreciation Week! Last year we gave gourmet cupcakes in an explosion box.  I'll have to look if I took a picture and post it here
This year, the Sizzix Carry All box wateacteachers taken out. Stamp by Stampendous, Changito. Inside I placed chocolate covered macadeamia nut cookies and Starbucks gift card. For the main teacher, she also received a book of stamps.
The little guy was excited to help so I had him place a popped up apple punch on there.
I received the Sizzix Carry All box from a friend I haven't seen for a long time.  I hope she is doing well and am thinking of her!
Thank you so much for stopping by. Have a good one!!
Eagles
A good friend of mine is a Philadelphia Eagles fans.  I had one of my east coast buddies get me some licensed Eagles fabrics and I sewed some fun items for her upcoming birthday in May.
From top left to right - mug rug and water bottle koozie, trash bag for car or desk, another mug rug and java wrap (koozie) and a place mat.
Close-up of place mat.  I pieced the top and added some jumbo ric rak.
 I love this little trash can photo I found online.  I will look for it and add a link.  I need to get either the proper stiff interfacing or a bottle to use as a form inside and to add a plastic trash bag.  Love the hug pom pon trim!
 My first attempt at a java wrap.  followed the instructions perfectly but it did Not fit on a coffee cup.  So now it's a water bottle koozie.    Plus a larger mug rug.
Since I'm getting into sewing for others, I had some logo labels made for myself at NameMaker.com.   Love them but they take a long time to arrive.  Please excuse all my stray threads.  I'll be sure to clean up before I gift! :)
Enjoy!   Karen
