Graduation time!

TIME FOR GRADUATION CARDS!!

Some quick cards I created.  This one for the boys.
This one for the girls.  The caps are created from the A Place in Time stamp, heat embossed with black.  The coordinating tassels were created with embroidery threads and pierced through the cap which is popped up.
The circle and scalloped circle are from Spellbinders.
It's a gift card/money holder.  Sentiments can be written on the bottom.

The Big Island of Hawai'i

Hi! I just got back from a week's stay on the Big Island. Wanted to share some pictures with you.
We stayed a couple days in Volcano.  You can see several ōhiʻa trees growing on the lava; the first form of life that grows out of the hardened lava.
My favorite picture is of the ōhiʻa lehua, aka Pele's Flower that I took in Volcano Park.  The legend states Pele, the Volcano goddess, was very jealous of the relationship between Ohi`a (a handsome chief) and Lehua (a beautiful maiden).  Because Ohi`a rejected Pele, she turned him into a twisted tree with grey leaves.  Lehua was so devastated that the gods took pity on her and turned her into a beautiful red flower on the tree.  Lehua means flower sacred to the gods.  They say that every time the Lehua is picked, it will rain symbolizing the lover's tears.
Petroglyphs in Pu`u Loa carved into the lava rocks.  They estimate around 23,000 petroglyphs in this area.
Punalu`u Black Sand Beach where the Honu (turtle) would come up to the sand as the tide rolls in.  The black sand is made of basalt and created by lava flowing into the ocean which explodes as it reaches the ocean and cools.
There were several Honus swimming very near to the kids in the water, although the kids never knew just how close they were.

Mike Wazowski and class tomorrow!!

Just got back from the Big Island.  Can't believe I forgot to go to Stone Cookie Factory!!  I love that place and eat their cookies with my tea.  Oh well,

While on the Big Island, I visited my best friend for a ouple of days.  It was cold but we had a wonderful time!  Anyway, this body scrubber and soap was picked up at a local craft fair.  They were favors for my BFF's son who will be graduating this weekend so this is what I came up with.  Big googlie eyes and we added a ribbon so that it would be worn like a lei.  The graduate is known for his Mike Wazowski (think Monster's Inc) mascot so I quickly created tags for the soap bags.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For those people that signed up for my May class, it is scheduled for tomorrow, May 25. at 1:30 (not 1:00) p.m.  Don't Forget and I'll See You THERE!!!
Have a good one!!
Nesti Circle and scallop circle with pop dots between all on top an embossed card.
White on white with silver and a touch of brown ribbon.
Add a sentiment and you have something elegant.
Tim Holtz Easle Die
I wonder how many of you saw this die and thought nothing about it.  Let me tell you that I found it to be a great investment!!  I purchased it at Ben Franklin the beginning of the year with a 40% coupon and have used it several times - pretty much just to showcase a card.
I recommend cutting the die with chipboard, mainly black chipboard.   Folded out, it looks like this and can be laid flat (hint:  think mailing!!!)
I used it to showcase this card. However, adding a mini calendar right there between the bamboo leaves and wa-la!!!  It makes a great year long gift . . . or maybe used to hold cards up so I can take a picture for the blog!!  :o)
Happy Mother's Day
I know a couple of mothers who love Hello Kitty.
This one is for YOU, as well as for each and every Mother reading this!
Hope it is a great one!!
For my mother and MIL, I decided to dig out from my stash and created this Hawaiian Haleconia card.
I used Dreamweaver's stamps, and a bunch of SU ink pads.
I have always loved this stencil and recreating the colors of the Haleconia is just too much fun!
It is from a bunch of us who's offices are located on his side of the floor
.
Here is the inside of the card.
The only thing that wasn't hand cut was the clouds die from Memory Box Inc.
Tea Swap for Robyn
I hope Robyn has already received my tea swap!!!
But here it is . . . . .
I saw this card and absolutely loved it!  Didn't have any of the item so I thought I'd improvise.
 I also created this little tea holder purse:
Looks like a regular little purse from the outside.
And here's a shot of the inside.
Hope she likes it!!!
