Something New . . .

Hi Everyone!! A co-worker is retiring at the end of the month and I was given a Pinterest link and asked to create a Retirement Survival Kit. Not knowing what that was, I googled it. Did you know there are many Survival Kits out there? One for the mom, one for the dad, one for the "happy" married couple, one for the teacher, etc., etc.

Ok, so I had several other projects on my desk and decided to create a "simple" survival kit. The stamps, I have used several times before: Art Impressions Golden Oldies. I also took the Pinterest link and copied their wording and, when finished, it came out like this!!!

The next step was just to go to the store to pick up the kit ingredients. Wow, this turned out pretty good and was pretty fun!!!

Happy Monday!!

Little Frames

Thank you to all those that entered the little Christmassy contest. It is now closed and I will announce the winner on Monday.

Also, classes are starting up again, the first one on January 25 called Felt Fusion - Cards. I will be posting sneak peeks and information hopefully starting tomorrow. Thank you to those who have been asking!! :o)

Here are the little frames I created for the craft fair this year.  Each one could be personalized if requested.

Each piece of the little girl and boy are cut and pieced together, and popped up with foamies.
I also created a personalized set for Colleen, my November Tea swapper for the "Anything But A Card" theme.  The frames were purchased at Ben Franklin and were plain jane!  I had to sand them and paint them.
Thankfully, I did really well with them!

Tea Album from Karen

One of my favorite handmade Christmas gift is this beautiful tea album from my blog partner, Karen.
It came all the way from Texas!

I googled and I think the paper line is Stampin Up's Tea for Two designer series.

The album has so many little pockets and pull ups.

With tea bags adhered all over the place.  (ooohh, aahhh!!!!)

More pictures of this 5 pages album.

Love, Love this little album!!!

Thank you sooooooo much, Karen!! Thank you for the time spent creating it!! I just LOVE it!!!

On New Years I received a comment from Chris regarding this Gingerbread man die here.   Because I am not positive whom "Chris" is, I'm replying here.

Unfortuntely, he is now a retired Sizzix die called Gingerbread Man #656295 from a couple years back.  You may find him on ebay or etsy.  Thank you for asking!!

Omiyage Gifts from the Tea Party

And now to show you the adorable, handcrafted gifts made by the talented ladies at the tea party last weekend:
First off, two gifts from Bren:  A tiny explosion box holding a little porcelain dish (sugar cup?); and a calendar album holding tea bags in each pocket as well as two spoons of Sympatea:
The adorable kokeshi doll calendar images were printed from http://creativemamma.com/free-printables/.  Check it out!!! L-o-v-e It!!!

Dori made two boxes from the WeRMemories Envelope punch filled with eye candy bling, lemon and lime bars from The Cookie Company and Big Island chocolate dipped cookie bars and a handful of kisses!!
BTW, the very next day I picked up the Envelope Punch at J's KnickKnacks!
Gail made this pink and silver gift bag which she used the Papertrey Favor-it Box 4 Die.  In it she places some tea bags and peppermint candy.  The back of the bag had a poem to join her for tea on New Years Day! It's soo pretty!!
In celebration of the Chinese Year of the Horse, Mel created this beautiful Lantern and tea holder.  She also gave us Zig Wink of Stella Brush.  We had lots of fun playing with it.
I wish I could show you the work involved in creating the Chinese lantern.  It's GORGEOUS!!  I'm still uncertain how she created it.

Finally, we each got this cute little Hawaiian Favor from Byron who did not attend:
We all gushed over it.  So cute, huh!!! Thanks, By!!  Here is what it looks like without the topper:
Thank you to my wonderful tea friends for a fun afternoon!!

The Tea Farm Cafe

This year we selected The Tea Farm Cafe in Pucks Alley, Honolulu, for our Christmas Tea.  I googled new tea places and this one popped up with good reviews by Yelp!
Although on the high end in price for High Tea, we had a most enjoyable time!!
Our Hostess Irwin took very good care of us.  The glass tea pots and cups were different from what we were used to.  Each tea pot remained warm via the lit candle in the pot holders.  When filled with tea, each cup displayed a little shaped heart at the bottom of our tea cup.
A picture of our tiered meal containing scones, fruits and sandwiches. The major attraction . . .
S'more that we could cook ourselves and . . .
their ever so popular fundue with chocolate, green tea and vanilla ice cream hearts, more marshmellows and brownies.  MMmmm, Mmmm, Mmmmm!!!

I would definitely rate this place a MUST for tea lovers!!  It's a treasure of a tea place located right there by the University of Hawaii, great place for college students to study, too!

After tea, we went to visit Cute Stuff whom, sadly closed its crafting doors on December 31.
Lastly, a thank you for wonderful friends and good times:  Bren, Mel, Gail and Dori.

xoxo

Bringing the new year in with scrap cards

Bringing in the new year with my personal favorite - scrap cards.  I made a cute little Bazzill mini album with their assorted shapped borders and pleated borders.   The borders were so cute.  I just couldn't throw them away even though I just had about 3-4 inches of it.   Light bulb moment!  A 3x3 card.  This took about 5 seconds to throw together and I thought came out adorable.  Cardstock, shaped border, pleated border - Bazzill, leather flower (very old-I think Making Memories) and the polka dot brad is old also (in my stash).

Enjoy and Happy New Year!   Karen
