Sneak peak #1 - Hawaiian La'au Class

It's that time again! Here is the first sneak peak for the Hawaiian La'au class scheduled for August 31.

The other day, I posted about the wooden embellishments that are brand new at A Place In Time. On this card I used two of them, the Humu (fish) and the Seahorse. These little guys are SOOO cute!! Bill did a great job on them!!

Stay tuned for more sneak peaks in the next couple of days. For all of you who have already signed up for the class, I will post a list of supplies to bring on the last sneak peak post.

Two Peas in a Pod

A co-worker asked me to create a card for a grandmother of twin newborns.  So I quickly created this card in a jiffy since I pretty much knew what I wanted to do:

Hand cut pod, Maple leaf punch, Cherry Lyn Designs Tropical Flourish Die, circle punches, bow punch, pearl stickers, chaulk, white pen and ink pad

We also made little gifts for each other but sorry, I don't have pictures of them

I was also able to attend a stamp convention in Long Beach and BOY did I HAVE FUN!!!

Colleen and I with a make and take we did at the TAJ booth

Here I am creating an Artist Trading Card (Imagine that!!)
And Meeting Miyuki and Leanne in the Yumi & Fumi booth.

I believe we stayed there for four hours but it was not enough!!
Special thanks to Colleen and her Ohana!!!

Ukulele - Mahalo

I just picked up this Stencil called Ukulele - Mahalo from A Place in Time.
Inked up, matted and all pau!

Fun Facts:
  • Did you know that the Ukulele was derived from two Portuguese instruments:  the braguinha and the cavaquinho
  • Ukulele means jumping flea
  • The Ukulele is best known for its association with Hawaiian music however it is now an international instrument with the ability to play all types of music venues.
  • The Hawaii State flower is the Maʻo hau hele (yellow hibiscus)
  • The Hibiscus is edible (i.e. dried fruit and tea, etc.)
  • The Hibiscus contains medicinal properties
  • The word Mahalo is Hawaiian for Thank You.

"Definitely Decorative" - but not anymore

Use Your Stash continues with a stamp set from Stamping Up called Definitely Decorative Ferns which I purchased many years ago.
The stamps themselves still look brand new.
In fact, I don't think I used them at all!!  I found this scrap piece of pattern paper on my desk.
Stamped the image with Versamark, embossed with black powder.  Love the look:  elegantly masculine for any occasions!

A touch of sunshine

Kraft paper and yellow daisies go so well together!!  I have always loved creating these little daisies with a daisy paper punch, circle punch, and fern leaf punch.  A little cutting here, a little snipping there.  Finished off with a bling and bow.
