Treat bins

I went to a retreat last month.  I made these little bins as my table treats for my friends.  The containers are Wal-Mart brand of quart-size crystal lite type drink mixes.  I covered in patterned paper and ribbon (I should have used washi tape!).  The monograms are CTMH and I inked the A and added bling and twine.   I then filled them with sweet and salty mix.

A fun treat!   So, save any kind of containers you have around your house.  They work great with a little embellishing!  Enjoy!   Karen

Washi card

So, I admit to being a big collector of washi tape.  It's so cute and I keep seeing cuter designs all the time.  I have about 50 rolls and just order two more sets (4-7 rolls apiece) this week.  I can't stop.  So I decided that if I actually used washi tape, then I could buy more (hence my purchases this week).  I made this card for a local card swap.  Every thing is washi tape except the background layers, buttons (making memories), twine and sentiment (SU).
Enjoy!   Karen

Copic Coloring Sister Stamps

Last weekend, I also took Priscilla's Copic Coloring Class.  Had a fun time at this event!!  I learned alot and I think it showed in my coloring:

I think I just need some practice not coloring out of lines!!  But I was very happy with my little "Ehu-haired" keiki:

Mei-Lin:
and Yoshi (normally doing the somersault), but he is doing the Kachashi (Okinawan dance) here:

Little Cutie-Patooties Back Packs

Oh my!!  Last week had a little tea party on Nuuanu 1024 and just had to dig into my little file folder for some Omiyagi Gift Inspiration. Check my little gifts out!!

I created this little back packs with the help of Sizzix Box 2 and Mini Oops! Its Box 3 and Scallop Envelope dies.

I fit two tea bags in the front pocket and a bunch of goodies inside the back pocket.

If there is interest, I'll post instructions, although I pretty much followed these great instructions by Mary Arima at Splitcoast Stampers with some modifications.

Thank you for stopping by!

Sneak Peak #2 - Hawaiian La`au Class

Here's my next card for class.

We can even paint these wooden embellishments for that extra pop.

I love the simplicity of this card.  The paper line we will be using is called rouge de Garance from France.  Goes so well with Kraft Paper!

Ukulele - Mahalo

I just picked up this Stencil called Ukulele - Mahalo from A Place in Time.
Inked up, matted and all pau!

Fun Facts:
  • Did you know that the Ukulele was derived from two Portuguese instruments:  the braguinha and the cavaquinho
  • Ukulele means jumping flea
  • The Ukulele is best known for its association with Hawaiian music however it is now an international instrument with the ability to play all types of music venues.
  • The Hawaii State flower is the Maʻo hau hele (yellow hibiscus)
  • The Hibiscus is edible (i.e. dried fruit and tea, etc.)
  • The Hibiscus contains medicinal properties
  • The word Mahalo is Hawaiian for Thank You.

"Definitely Decorative" - but not anymore

Use Your Stash continues with a stamp set from Stamping Up called Definitely Decorative Ferns which I purchased many years ago.
The stamps themselves still look brand new.
In fact, I don't think I used them at all!!  I found this scrap piece of pattern paper on my desk.
Stamped the image with Versamark, embossed with black powder.  Love the look:  elegantly masculine for any occasions!

A touch of sunshine

Kraft paper and yellow daisies go so well together!!  I have always loved creating these little daisies with a daisy paper punch, circle punch, and fern leaf punch.  A little cutting here, a little snipping there.  Finished off with a bling and bow.
