Altered Box Project

I made this cute little altered box project as Secret Santa for my online group of scrappin' friends (PAWS). I didn't post it previously as I wanted her to open it on Christmas not sure of who her Secret Santa was. I used Basic Grey papers, bling and stickles. I got the knob at Target and got my husband to cut it down to the proper length.

I'm glad to finally have internet access again!

Cards

Two cards I taught at our scrapbook club's holiday party this past weekend. I remember seeing these cards a while ago. One is an origami fold card and the other . . .? I don't know the proper name but I did turn it into a gift card. If you know the design name, lmk!


Paper by Chatterbox. I love this line. One of their old collectionsHowever, I think Chatterbox closed its doors this past year? Did you know that Ross' has scrapbooking supplies every so often? That's where I got a whole paper pak of this line . . for a steal!

Maxine Birthday Card

Needed a quick birthday card for a friend. Here's MAXINE! Color copied a cartoon from a Maxine book, added embellishments. Viola! All done!

Kinda Back Again!

Sorry, folks - I have been dealing with "technology issues". Love technology when it works! Both my kids laptops crashed this month and my computer is going down. I only have internet intermittently, when one of the computers decides to communicate.

I had exciting news -- I am a Design Team Member at http://sketchesbytamara.blogspot.com/ beginning in January! I'm so excited!

Teacher Post-it Note Holder

Even though my holiday season cut so short, I still created quick gifts. Here is one of 3 different styles I created for teacher gifts this year. Stamp is by Stampendous (I think). Found these adorable apple shaped post-it note pads at Fisher and knew exactly what we wanted to do. I thought I took pictures of the other ones too, but apparently not. These pads had watermark designs alread on them.

Back again!

Well, I'm back. I think Karen is still recuperating from the busy holidays. I procrastinated real bad this year. Only gave myself 3 weeks to do the shopping, wrapping, mailing, etc. In between there were Christmas performances, family get togethers, work, sickness in the family, health issues, and everything else. Next year, I plan to be ready!

Do you find yourself procrastinating one year, doing really well the next year (because you remembered what you did the previous year), then procrastinating the next (because you felt so proud of yourself the previous year)? It is a vicious cycle. Well this coming year is going to be my good year! Watch and see!!

So back to the crafts. Here are some of the gifts I created during the past couple of weeks. My classes start again at A Place in Time, Kailua in January. We have another blog look and look forward to 2010 . . . . .

Post-it Note Holders

This design has been around for a while. The holders are covered chipboard with a metal clip, and a matching mini pen. Easy gifts for co-workers and you can use up your scraps!

Baby's 1st Birthday card

I've had these font called DB Party Animals for a while and this monkey is from that font. All I had to do was print it in any size I wanted, double mat with nesties, add stickles, TLC rubons and eyelets.

What a fast card this was!

Art Box 2009

At the suggestion of a colleague at work, I joined the Art Box 2009 Show, sponsored by Bering & James Gallery. Artists in Houston obtained an "art box" from B&J --which is basically a 12"x12" wood box -- and decorated the box to their desires. The Art Boxes are to be exhibited beginning Dec 4, 2009 and are available for sale. A portion of the proceeds benefit the Depelchin Center. I decided to go with a dog theme.

I'm excited to go see what all the different artists have done with their Art Boxes. I think I heard there are over 400 artists participating. I"ve posted closer details of portions of my box on my personal blog. Enjoy!

All About Keenan

Remember when you had to create a little poster about your child to share with his class? Well, I just finished little Keenan's and here it is, using up these embossed diecuts I have had in my stash. They are probably just as old as Keenan!

Altered Candle

GF Sherri gave me a bunch of these candles. The label was carefully pealed off, and redesigned with Nesties. I found these elegant cell phone stickers: one for the label and one for the tag.

A little Merry Christmas card for the Shoebox Card Swap today. I can't believe the holiday season is upon us. The blue metal snowflake was purchased from Michaels approx 3 years ago and the metal Christmas tag from a Scrapper's Jam maybe longer than that. MS Arch border completes this quick gift card holder and Hero Arts Joy border stamp.

Oh, my, it's been a while! Craft fair season is upon and I've been vigorously working on things to sell. Sis and I will be at the Neal Blaisdell Center, Thankgiving weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday so please stop by to say hi!

Surprise, I have one more class coming up! It's a 2 page layout scheduled for Thursday, November 16, 2009 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at A Place in Time, Kailua. The cost is $25 and you get a lot of supplies plus be able to create this beautiful layout featuring BG's Nook and Pantry paper collection. Here's a close shot of the bird in "3-d"! Look, you even get to see a recent picture of my boys. They sure have grown!

I have a couple of things in the works as well as another sketch challenge. It's 11 photos and I'm late!

My good friend, Loretta, made this little Frank as her contribution at the TXGC SBS. Isn't he adorable! All cardstock and ink to shade. He is a cover for a package of microwave popcorn. I'm giving him to my daughter today.

Shoebox Card

Remember my shoebox cards? Here's one that Sherri designed. I modified mine a bit and this is how it came out. Dont'cha just love it!! Of course, it's already on its way to a friend.

It's been a while since I last posted, although Karen has been doing a wonderful job with her cards. I love all of the cards in her shoebox swaps!!

For those that know me, like my girlfriend Teri, I get maybe 6 hours of sleep. I seem to do my best creating in the wee morning hours when everyone is asleep. The past several months I have been forcing myself to get more hours of sleep but these past few days I slipped back to my old habit.



These are the second batch of holders I made. The first batch, I cooked them up at 3 a.m. in the morning. I then debated whether I should make some for my co-workers.

Well, this morning (maybe last nite?) Anyway, I woke up as 12 midnight with an urge to make something for some of the girls at work. So I started these and worked on them until 2a.

Went back to sleep, woke up at 5a to get ready for work.


Long day short...I just finished 20 more.

I cannot take credit for these. They have been around for several years. A friend gave me my first one back in 2006. Inside was a movie certificate on a bag of popcorn.

I have no idea what it is called so if you know, please drop me a line!! You can use these holder for any holiday. It's quick, cute, and you use up lots of extra supplies that are collecting dust.

Here's my instructions:

My image is 4x2. Stamped and watercolored.

2 mats created at 4.25 x 2.25 and 4.5 x 2.5.

Lay image in the center of black cardstock measuring 6"x8". Apply adhesive on one side (see picture). Then overlap black cardstock at sticky ends to form a cylinder.

Punch a hole on the top directly across from each other approx 1/2" from the edge. Slide ribbon through the two holes. Package your candy and let it drop down into the cylinder.

Take the lose ribbons ends and tie your bow. To make things easier for the recipient, I added a tag that says, "Pull ribbon up". When you pull the ribbon, the candy peeks out. Cool, huh!

I ran out of chocolate candy so the last 4 had pumpkin spice candy corn packaged and stapled onto matching cardstock.

Staz-On Stamping

Another super cool technique. The stamped tree is stamped on the silver metallic paper with black Stazon ink. Stazon ink is a solvent ink and adheres and dries on stick non-porous surfaces. So where pigment ink would have smeared on this non-porous metallic paper, the Stazon does not (you do have to set it aside to let it dry!). The black and silver makes a dramatic effect, don't you think?

Super cool

I love the simplicity of this card from the TXGC SBS card swap. It used only one small stamp - a bunch of reedy looking stalks. We punched a circle out of a piece of post-it paper -- making sure we had the sticky portion. Put the circle in the middle of the card and then stamp the little reedy stamp repeatedly around in a circle. Then pull up the post-it circle and waa-laa, a wreath! Add a bow and some bling.

Another card from the TXGC SBS. I never would have thought of putting these colors together, but I love them. Also love the watercolor look of this stamp set.

Generational stamping

This is one of the cards from the SBS swap and uses my favorite technique - generational stamping. This card used about three snowflake stamps but only one ink pad. The darker snow flakes were stamped "first generation" -- direct from the pad. For the mid-range colored stamp images, I stamped on the ink pad, then stamped off on scratch paper and then on the card. Gave it a slightly lighter image. The lightest color was "third generation" or stamped off twice. Great way to get different colors from one ink pad!

Super simple card

A super simple card using CTMH products. The pink cardstock is embossed using a Cuttlebug embossing folder and then it was sanded to show the white core. Star is cut and embossed using a Nestibility die and stamped with CTMH stamp.

TXGC SBS Swap cards

This is another card that I made at the SBS hosted by Anita...

Very simple but very effective. The pine cone is stamped and embossed with clear prism glitter so it shines. I love the whiteness of this card!

Here's another card from the Texas Gulf Coast Shoebox Swap that I went to last weekend. I'm showing both the outside and the incide. The tree stamp is from Kitchen Sink stamps and the sentiment from CTMH.

I am posting some of the swap cards that I made at the Texas Gulf Coast Shoebox Swap last weekend. They were simply amazing -- I cannot take credit for the designs. I wish they had all been marked with the designers name. Enjoy!

Texas Gulf Coast Shoebox Swap

I went to a fantastic Shoebox Swap this weekend, hence the title, hosted by Anita -- Chosen Creations from SplitcoastStampers website. It was the first large scale shoebox swap I had ever attended and I had a blast! It was a whole day of stamping and meeting new people. I was totally surprised when I won one of the Creative Challenges for the Fall card. This is a horrible photo -- think something is wrong with my camera lately. I won some cool Kitchen Sink stamps.

So, again, thanks Anita and the whole Brazoria area SplitcoastStampers! I've already decided that I'm going to have to hold one after the beginning of the year here in Houston so stay tuned for details. And, I've promised a friend that I will get on taking photos of the rest of the cards from the swap and posting them.

Tea Swap - NE1?

Window card for our next tea swap. There's a LOT of embossing going on here. I haven't done that for a while. Oops! With a window, how am I going to enclose the tea bags??? Oh, well, I'll think of something.
